About Us

OUR MAIN GOAL IS Don't leave anyone behind.

The Indonesian Manuwani organization was initiated and developed by female survivors and novelist who think alike that women and men have the same space and opportunities to increase their potential in all dimensions of life to create a prosperous life. We believe that there is no justifiable excuse for values that are contrary to just and civilized humanity.

Since June 2019, Manuwani Indonesia has been working with female service workers in East Jakarta entertainment venues (cafés, spas, salons, massage parlors) to provide knowledge and understanding of women’s reproductive rights, understanding the law for resolving legal cases, and supporting community solidarity groups for cafe workers and massage parlors as a space for storytelling among fellow communities.

As a result, we believe in becoming a part of a grassroots (pro-people) social movement that works with vulnerable and disadvantaged women, especially girls, to create potential resources for fair and equitable women’s independence without undermining human dignity. Our mission to strengthen women’s grassroots leadership to promote the rights of women who are most impacted by stigma, discrimination, and exclusivity, and to have the resources to find innovative solutions for achieving a just, equitable, and compassionate society through women-led development, information and documentation based on women experience and Advocacy

Key mission

Awareness & Education on Women's Rights

Provide training and workshops on women's rights, particularly reproductive rights, legal protections, and gender equality. Organize seminars and outreach programs for female sex workers and other vulnerable communities to educate them about their legal and social rights.

Legal Assistance & Advocacy

Offer legal support and counseling for women experiencing gender-based violence, exploitation, or workplace discrimination. Collaborate with pro bono lawyers and human rights organizations to help resolve legal cases related to women's rights.

Economic Empowerment & Skills Training

Conduct skills development programs such as entrepreneurship, digital skills, beauty services, sewing, and other vocational training to help women gain economic independence. Provide access to micro-financing and small business support for women who want to start their own businesses as an alternative source of income.

Psychosocial Support & Community Solidarity

Establish safe spaces where women from vulnerable communities can share their experiences, support one another, and build solidarity. Provide psychosocial counseling and trauma support for women affected by gender-based violence or difficult life experiences.

Documentation, Research, & Publications

Collect and document women’s stories, particularly from female sex workers and marginalized groups, to use as material for advocacy and public awareness. Conduct research on the social, economic, and legal conditions affecting women in the informal sector and publish findings to drive policy change.

Women's Leadership Development & Public Participation

Encourage grassroots women to become leaders and advocates in social movements and push for more inclusive policies. Provide leadership training, public speaking workshops, and advocacy programs to equip marginalized women with the skills to participate in policymaking and governance.
